Court records in Utah are public unless they are confidential or exempt from public disclosure. Most documents created by Utah courts are open for inspection and copying. The Utah Government Records Access and Management Act (GRAMA), enacted in 1991, permits public access to public records of government bodies at all levels.

The District of Utah participates in the federal program PACER, which is an electronic database that contains the court information on criminal cases filed since November of 1992 and civil cases filed since July of 1989. The only exceptions to this are social security cases and cases that have been sealed by the order of a judge.
